The CHINESE POPULATION is shrinking while also getting older. The number of births reached a two-decade high of 17.9 million in 2016 but it has fallen every year since and has hit a new low of 9 million in 2023. This was the lowest number since the Communist Party took over in 1949. The size of the population declined by 2 million in 2023. (via @business)
