HAMAS is classified as a terrorist organization in the West but it has wide support among the populations of the West Bank and Gaza. In fact, a higher percentage of people in the West Bank than in Gaza are “satisfied” with the performance of Hamas and its leaders. Of course, Hamas governs Gaza and not the West Bank, which means that West Bank opinion has less ‘skin in the game’. The Palestinian Authority and its leaders do not poll as well in either territory.
