Africa is the continent of the future. Unfortunately, it is always the continent of the future and has not become so far the continent of the present. AFRICA HAS ONE MAIN PROBLEM and that is governance. It has all the other ingredients for economic success: improving demographics and rising literacy, abundant resources, huge potential for productivity gains, and a foreign investor class that is willing to pour money in, if only… governance would improve. We have some way to go, if we judge by this map. Nearly all African regimes are deemed by consultancy Dragonfly Intelligence to be very unstable or moderately unstable.
