How important is the PORT OF BALTIMORE for the US economy? Quite important for tanker traffic, according to Andreas Steno Larsen. His firm Steno Research produced this chart showing that tanker traffic through Baltimore is about 5% of the US total but can reach as high as 10 to 12% in some periods. We are not overly concerned because our view is that the port will reopen within a month or two, the time needed to clear a sufficient amount of debris from the water to allow ships to pass. Because rebuilding the bridge will take much longer, the bigger disruption will be due to the severed highway link. (via @AndreasSteno)
